After beating Nova Scotia 7-5 in Draw 10, Ontario’s John Epping secured the third and final playoff spot at the Canadian mixed curling championship, with the top two already clinched by Quebec and Manitoba.
Manitoba’s David Hamblin took a 6-5 win over Northern Ontario and an 8-4 victory over Saskatchewan - coupled with a 7-5 loss in extra ends by Quebec’s Dwayne Fowler to N.W.T./Yukon in the earlier draw, ensuring Manitoba would finish as the number-one seed at 9-2.
Fowler ended the round-robin with a 9-5 victory over Nova Scotia while Epping finished with a 8-5 win over Alberta, leaving both teams at 8-3.
The semifinal matchup gets under way Friday and the final is scheduled for Saturday.
