HALIFAX (CP) - Calgary’s Shannon Kleibrink is headed to the Winter Olympics.

Kleibrink defeated Kelly Scott 8-7 in the women’s final at the Tim Hortons Canadian Curling trials.

Scott, who curls out of Kelowna, B.C., scored two in the seventh end then followed up with back-to-back steals in the eighth and ninth ends to erase a 5-3 deficit. But Kleibrink stormed back with three in the 10th and will represent Canada at the Turin Games in February.

It’s some redemption for Kleibrink eight years after losing to Sandra Schmirler in the final game of the 1997 Olympic trials.

Scott won the round robin to advance straight to the final. Kleibrink defeated Stefanie Lawton of Saskatoon in the semifinals to earn a berth in the championship.

Brad Gushue plays Jeff Stoughton in the men’s final Sunday.
