Manitoba Curling Tour - Labatt Fort Rouge Christmas Spiel

Reid Carruthers and his Valour Road team (with Jason Gunnlaugson, Justin Richter, and Tyler Forrest) won the last event on the regular schedule of the tour, beating clubmate Sean Grassie 8-5 in the final of the LABATT FORT ROUGE CHRISTMAS SPIEL last night (December 30th).
Carruthers earned a total of $2,900 in the progressive payout of the cashspiel, while Grassie’s team picked of $1,900. Ryan Hyde of Portage and Peter Nicholls of Elmwood, who lost in the semi-finals, received $900 apiece.
Bryan Zachary of the Granite, Jeff Tarko of Fort Rouge, Randy Dutiaume of Valour Road, and Wes Jonasson of Arborg each earned $600 by qualifying for the quarter-finals (32 teams–8 qualifiers).
Bill Kuran of Pembina won the Consolation event (worth $300), topping Dave Johnson of Deer Lodge ($150) 7-4 in that final.
The conclusion of the regular season paves the way for the LABATT MANITOBA CURLING TOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS, to be held in Swan River and Bowsman, January 6th to 8th, 2006.
