Television Coverage in Canada
April 03, 2006 – Over the past few days we have recieved several inquiries into why there is no round robin television coverage of the World Championships in Canada. Just to clarify, round robin play in World Championships held outside of Canada has never been broadcast into Canada with one exception – the 2002 World Championships held in Bismarck, North Dakota. On that occasion, TSN chose to broadcast the event at no incremental cost to the World Curling Federation or the Canadian Curling Association.
The 2006 World Men’s Curling Championship will be broadcast to Canada on CBC (nationwide) on April 8 and 9. In addition, CurlTV is webcasting the round robin draws and ESPN2 will broadcast a wrap-up show on April 16. Eurosport is also providing coverage to Europe.
Unfortunately, CBC will only be broadcasting the playoff semi-final game and final game April 8th and April 9th respectively. The official broadcasting schedule is .. HERE. If you are subscribed to CurlTV you will be able to watch the games (if you are a subscriber) and see the scores in “Real Time”..
